Someone has pointed that out to me in the past. I looked the two up on the Web, asserted that they were technically the same thing, said "hunh!" and went on my merry way.
I have since experimented with the two, again. As before, tylenol works unreliably and sometimes makes me woozy; paracetamol just works. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's some inactive ingredient somewhere. Maybe it's the dosage (though I thought the active ingr. dosage was the same). It continues to be a mystery; but on the other hand, a tomato is a tomato is a tomato, but they are an entirely different animal in Italy.
