In response to Roland Barthes' A Lover's Discourse -- not the whole thing, just some fragments that I read this morning. N.B.: reference to tomorrow is abstract.

---

1 option jealousy, the only other - forcing self to not be jealous (one hundred forty-five). Both signal conformism, so there is no winning - though no losing, either. Otherwise insightful, sixty-year-oldman puts words in my mouth as I sip my coffee, reading him writing me reading Goethe. I cannot object, so I mouth the words he writes into my mouth, and continue reading.

2 conti.new. Read anew, recon[stitute|sider] the pulp of his words that iMouth. Watery sensationalism allows me the freedom [only] to nod and despair, to discourse about the Other and manifest what seems the only requi[ted|site] outward expression of love. I think, read, ink re-action against what he wrote me reading and thinking. I digitize my words. Meantime, mean old man means to tell me that love is a fin.ite [quant|ent]ity. Mean, weak think.ink.

3rd - another, de-limited, option. My lover is forty miles away, working. My lover is twenty-five miles away, teaching. His lover is fifteen miles away, working. Yesterday, I spoke with my lover on the telephone. Yesterday, I spoke with my lover on the telephone. Tomorrow, an ethical slut thirty-five miles away will approach her lover intending to give what she can, get what she needs, deepen a connection. Will generate[s] love. Energy better spent.
