veek'Kay, friend-list people. The mood is consistently dismal, oppressive in my immediate geographic proximity. I don't live like this, by focussing on the minute negatives. Tell me about the good things in your life.
I suppose I'll start.
The doctoral program I proposed to my university, an independent-study sort of thing, was accepted. People I respect and admire are enthusiastic enough about it to have offered very tangible support.
Much as I cannot relate to some of my family, there are other members of it whom I count among my best friends.
Speaking of friends, I am lucky - I've got some very good ones. I could go to most major and several minor cities in the U.S., and to places in at least five other countries, and have a place to stay. Some of them are friendly acquaintances, but many are people whom I trust unreservedly.
I can relate to people in four different languages. That is so cool.
I am surrounded, in real life and on the internet, by beautiful, creative people who give of their hearts freely.
SO many books to read in the next year, and all of them make me giddy.
Music is paramount, and I've found many different artists I like.
There are people whom I can love, and feel fulfilled by it and them.
