Alzheimer's is progressing rapidly. She's forgotten what mom does for a living and couldn't recognize mom's voice from behind a locked door, when mom forgot her keys and needed grandma to open it from the inside.
And now, a probably malignant tumor in her breast. They haven't done the biopsy yet, but the probability of malignancy is 95%, says the surgeon. They wanted to put her in the hospital for the biopsy, such that if it comes back positive, they may operate at once. Mom doesn't even know if she wants them to operate: Gram's quality of life would diminish drastically after surgery, whereas right now she feels no pain. She's 87. We lost Dad two years ago. Bleah.
I'm not disallowing comments, but really, am not looking for an outpouring of sympathy. Though if you feel you have something to Say, by all means. (edit: okay, I'm going no-comment. Thanks, really. I do appreciate it. But I can't deal with any more virtual *hugs* in any venue.)
