I like to think that I listen to my body pretty closely. Nevertheless, this simple observation had escaped me until now.

Scheduling of food intake and sleep is absolutely essential for optimal performance. Not just what I eat, but when I eat it. Since I am a quintessential morning person (there is very little that can throw me off, physically, in the morning), scheduling of food/sleep becomes even more crucial at the farthest point from the morning, namely in the evening. Leave dinner until too late, when I'm exhausted and haven't eaten well during the day in the first place, and my body cannot process food and keep conscious for too long. So it collapses, doesn't let me push it, not unless I want to damage it -- and I'm not that stupid.

So, the more hectic and busy and exhausting things get, the more disciplined I need to be with regard to each day's schedule. Moreover, each day's schedule needs to be individually arranged, because I don't have a set hour interval in which I work.

Shudder. The D word. I've never been good at discipline. I like to think that it's gotten better over the years, but.

Ah well. I've always been best at accomplishing things under a certain amount of stress. So, who needs December 31st. Resolve to treat self well now. Then I can push my body to do what I need it to do. To do otherwise wouldn't be fair, would it.
